Where the Sierra Meets the Sea

Casa Awasi, designed by the Mexican firm Cáceres + Tous, unfolds as a sequence of dark-canopied pavilions embedded into a private hillside above the Pacific coast of Costalegre. The structure is anchored by hand-laid stone walls and wrapped in oxidised steel louvers that filter the equatorial light throughout the day. Each pavilion opens fully on the seaward side, framing uninterrupted views across the ocean and the folds of the surrounding sierra.

The living pavilion features a double-height wood ceiling, a ceiling-mounted fan array, and a lounge that opens without threshold onto an infinity pool terrace. Tropical landscaping — palms, heliconias, and wild grasses — blurs the line between architecture and site at every level. With five bedroom suites, five bathrooms, and covered outdoor rooms at multiple levels of the hillside, Casa Awasi is one of the Pacific coast’s most fully realised private residences.
